For me, I have three expectations that I teach my Kindergarten students to not only have in our classroom but to demonstrate throughout the school:
1. Be Respectful
2. Be Responsible
3. Be Safe
If all of these expectations are shown, they are worthy of being a Bertha Barber Kindergarten Bobcat!

10 Picture Tour
Welcome to Bertha Barber Elementary in Bellevue, NE. |
We are the Bertha Barber Bobcats. This banner greets students daily. |
Our wonderful office staff. Mrs. Fjelstad is our principal and Mrs. Kemp is our secretary. |
This is my classroom looking to the southeast. I am very lucky to have one of the largest Kindergarten rooms in the district. |
This is looking to the southwest in my classroom. As you can see I have limited wall space but LOTS of windows! |
Our lunch room where we eat lunch and is also serves as our gym for P.E |
The computer lab. I'm looking forward to re-decorating it for the new school year. |
Our library where lots of reading is done. |
This is one part of playground. As you can see we have a very large pad of concrete for students to play on. |
This is the other part of the playground. You can see my classroom windows in this picture. |

My First Posting
Hello All! My name is Jodi Evans and I am a Kindergarten teacher at Bertha Barber Elementary in Bellevue, NE. I attend Peru State College to get my Early Childhood/Elementary Education teaching degree. I received my first Master's from Doane College in Curriculum and Instruction and my second Master's from Peru State also in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Technology.
I started my teaching career in a Class 1 school district in Richland, NE where I taught Kindergarten, Preschool and 1st-3rd grade computer classes. I also was the PE teacher for a time. After two years, I moved back to my hometown of Lincoln, NE where I substitute taught for a year. I was then hired on by Bellevue Public Schools in Bellevue, NE to teach Kindergarten. I will be starting my 9th year at Bertha Barber this fall.
I am a PC person but have worked with both throughout my learnings. If my brother had his say, he would have me working on a Mac. I feel that there are pros and cons about both. I have worked more with a PC and able to navigate information more.
In my classroom, I don't use a lot of technology because of some of the limitations that I have. I use my iPod to share music and some learning games. I have worked with our new Math curriculum internet connection to teach lessons. I'm looking forward to having my own rover cart in the classroom so I can utilize technology more. Something new I want to try this coming year are Calendar binders. Having an interactive calendar for the students to use. We will have to see how it works!
